I think I am going to adopt Seth Godin’s blogging philosophy – short and sweet. Less is more.
Generally, I’ve always preferred this tactic:
1 – Short, crisp pop songs vs long jams
2 – Top 10 lists vs long essays
3 – 90 minute comedies vs 3 hour epics.
The same is true with the government. A short, exciting job ad will beat a 4-page job description everyday. A 5-page strategic plan is better than a 100-page strategic plan. A 5-minute summary is better than an hour-long speech.
6 good powerpoint slides beats 40 pages everyday.
Think about ways how you can incorporate this philosophy. I’m going to try and I’ll keep you updated.
Steve,
First off — love this site. Nice job.
And a really excellent point on short and sweet. I think there are some real lessons on blogging — and ‘just doing it’ is a good lesson. I pulled some together a few days ago, but I’d welcome other thoughts.
