As we prepare for GovLoop’s State and Local Tech Trends Virtual Training, we are posting blogs about many of the sessions and some of the tips and best practices our experts will share. The virtual training is October 21st from 11AM-3PM ET and free for everyone — make sure to register here!

Three digits Americans know all too well: 9-1-1. No one ever wants to dial those numbers, but knowing there is help at the other end of the line is a comfort for many people. The public relies on that support and it’s imperative that local government agencies maintain the service for all communities.

As populations in counties continue to grow, the number of services tied to 911 centers also grows and experience increased workloads. But just imagine, despite these increased workloads and volume, being able to improve dispatch response time to residents and public safety staff and improve call centers.

Now you don’t have to imagine that. One country in Virginia has made improvements to its 911 dispatch system’s infrastructure, enhancing public safety.

Virginia’s fifth largest county, Henrico County, transformed its 911 public safety system using NetApp’s Cluster Data ONTAP system. Its unique ability to deliver non-disruptive operations along with NetApps Flash Acceleration allowed for faster service delivery, which was seen from Henrico County’s improvements in response time from its public safety staff. Cluster Data ONTAP’s flexibility allows IT staff to focus on other areas of need, which wasn’t possible before.

In an upcoming GovLoop training Brian Viscuso, County of Henrico Department of Information Technology, and Matt Lawson, Principal Architect at NetApp, will discuss how to use technology to improve public safety services.

Join GovLoop’s State and Local Tech Trends Virtual Training to learn how to combat the many challenges the state and local governments face.

“How Henrico County, VA Improved Their Public Safety Services” is part of GovLoop’s State and Local Tech Trends Virtual Training, an all-day, virtual event with three different online trainings, two keynotes and resources to help you do your job better.
