Finding the perfect day to volunteer and give back to the community can be challenging. You have to research what community service events are happening near you, gather all of the necessary information to attend and then use what little free time you have as a government employee to make it happen. Fortunately, GovLoop is here to make it easier than ever to give back to the community.
On Saturday, Oct. 19 GovLoop is hosting a free community service day event for government employees called Govies Give Back. We’ll spend the morning cleaning up Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C. and then enjoy free lunch at a nearby picnic site.
Here are the specifics:
When: Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. ET
Where: Rock Creek Park: Melvin Hazen Mini-Oasis Site
Metro: The closest Metro stop is Cleveland Park on the Red Line.
Parking: There is metered parking near the event space as well as public parking garages nearby. Parking is not included in your event registration.
You can invite a colleague to join you or bring a friend along on-site and you’ll both receive free GovLoop tote bags! Free Govies Give Back T-shirts, lunch and park-cleaning supplies will be provided on-site as well.
Register for free and let’s enjoy the weather, network with our peers and give back to the community we all know and love.
Hope to see you there!
