Announcing the GovLoop 2010 Charity Challenge!

***** 12/14 UPDATE ******

We’re at the halfway point and you’ve raised $2,800!

See below for how to reach our goal of $5,000!

Casey Williams, Scholarship Winner

As you know, GovLoop is a “do good, do well” kind of community. So in the spirit of holiday giving, I am proud to announce the 2010 GovLoop Charity Challenge!

We’re teaming up with the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA), which awards more than $400,000 in scholarship annually to students each year, provides confidential grants and no-interest loans to federal employees facing unexpected financial hardships, and provides child care assistance for thousands of Feds and their children.

5 Seconds for You = $5 for Feds in Need

In order to make a donation to FEEA at this time of year, we wanted to get you involved. Here’s how it will work:

1 – Invite your friends and colleagues to Join GovLoop*

To make it super easy for you, copy and paste the language below:

Hello! I’m a member of GovLoop.com, an online community connecting thousands of government employees. Right now, they are running a 2010 Charity Challenge, trying to give away $5,000 to the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA). And you don’t have to give a thing! Here’s how it works:

1 – JOIN GOVLOOP: http://bit.ly/5forFEEA (free & takes 5 seconds!)

2 – For each new member, they will donate $5 to FEEA.

In case you aren’t familiar with either organization:

FEEA (http://www.feea.org)
is a non-profit that awards more than $400,000 in scholarships to students each year, provides confidential grants and no-interest loans to federal employees facing unexpected financial hardships, and provides child care assistance for thousands of Feds and their children.

GovLoop (https://www.govloop.com) is the premiere online community for government where nearly 40,000 members are collaborating on common challenges, connecting with peers and catapulting their careers. Plus, they have tools and resources designed to help you do your job even better and make a difference as a government employee.

Thanks for taking 5 seconds to raise $5 for FEEA!

2 – For each new member between now and 12/21, we’ll give $5 to FEEA.

3 – Our Goal = 1,000 New Members and $5,000 for FEEA.

It’s that simple. FEEA is in on the action, too, inviting their members to join GovLoop and increase the amount we donate.

We’ll give you updates, but you can learn the latest at http://bit.ly/5forFEEA.

GovLoop’s Commitment to Philanthropy

Last year at this time, we hosted a crowd-sourced competition to identify a top charity. We ended up donating almost $2,000 to an awesome organization called “Adventures for the Cure.”

In June, the GovLoop community jumped to the aid of a former Federal employee whose wife has cancer with baby triplets, raising $5,000 for them.

In August, we teamed up with CampusGov to award Kyle Robisch with a $2,500 scholarship.

And a couple months ago, we were able to donate $1,500 to Dreams for Kids.

AND WE’RE NOT DONE YET!

Let’s raise some funds for FEEA and connect with more people in the process!
