Life is rife with frequent “jumps to conclusions”, and “climbs up the ladder of inference” (another favorite metaphor). These mental trips happen quickly which makes them next to impossible to stop. But we can work to keep our visits there as brief as possible.

For me, leading through influence is not picking a new direction and persuading people to get on board. What I’m talking about is different. It’s the ability to be sell your idea in a crowded field of ideas and then get people to help you implement it.

Your learning should never stop, especially when it comes to your field. Even if your next promotion isn’t tied to you taking a class, it never hurts to refresh your skills.
