New reporting by Nielsen provides context on smartphone buying habits important for enterprise technologists to understand. According to Nielsen, two thirds of mobile buyers are now buying smartphones, and Android is dominating this smartphone market.
51.8% of smartphone owners are using an Android OS handset. Just over a third (34%) of smartphone owners use an Apple iPhone. There are still many Blackberry users ou there, but the percentage is shrinking and is now at 8.1%. Other very important dynamics, including smartphone device manufacturer stats are also provided in this report. These also point to continued domination by Android.
Since Apple does it all, they have the greatest share for any one manufacturer. Samsung is very strong. Nokia is fading fast.
