A federal agency recently made news by hosting a Google+ Hangout. It was impressive because the agency was NASA and participants were in outer space.

I bet you can’t use Google+ Hangouts as a video conferencing tool at work. It is the type of tool that gets banned by IT departments.
Telework is important. Tools like Hangouts are critical to telework productivity. I use Hangouts for (non-federal) work all the time, and it really helps.
I am curious: Has anyone used Hangouts within the federal government? If so, what agency? Was it allowed or encouraged by IT and managers, or more of a bottom-up thing?
Happy complaining!
