The new BYOD guidance required under the Obama Administration’s Digital Government Strategy released last month encourages agencies to allow personal devices and smartphones at work.
While not mandatory, the new guidance – created by a digital advisory group that worked with the Federal Chief Information Officers Council – lays out key considerations, as well as current agency success stories and existing BYOD policies. The document is essentially a ‘thought starter’ to get agencies in-tune with this new movement.
One portion of the guidance caught our attention, which highlights how government IT leaders need to re-think technology implementation strategies, could spell opportunity for contractors developing mobile IT solutions.
