CeBIT Australia’s Gov 2.0 Conference 2010

Hi Folks – I’ve been very remiss in participating in Govloop of late. I have been swamped by my day job and in preparing for the Gov 2.0 Conference held here in Australia.

CeBIT Australia’s Gov 2.0 Conference took place 3 & 4 November at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. There were some great speakers. Senator Kate Lundy, Craig Thomler, Peter Alexander and Mia Garlic to name a few. Yours truly, was also lucky enough to be invited to speak.

It was a great time with plenty of information sharing. While acknowledging the great work being done there was a strong realisation that much more needs to be done in terms of building the capability of public servants to make Gov 2.0 rock on the ground. As much has been said recently by Andrea Di Maio – I’ve commented on that over at OZloop.
My take is that the key themes emerging for 2011 in Australia are:
  • Building the capability of public servants to engage using social media
  • Shifting the culture of the public service
  • Getting rid of processes and practices that impede progress
On the culture front I finally got to add some words to a presentation I put together a little while back.
Here are the conference presentations, photos and twitter stream.
So challenging times ahead. With a bit of fun along the way.
