Daniel Murdock, former industry professional practice director at Deloitte & Touche LLP, has joined the Securities and Exchange Commission as deputy chief accountant.
Murdock succeeds Paul Beswick, who was named chief accountant, and will manage the agency’s accounting group within the Office of the Chief Accountant, the SEC said Friday.
The group collaborates with the Financial Accounting Standards Board and works to provide accounting and auditing advice to the SEC, as well as consulting with companies and auditors on accounting standards and financial disclosure applications.
“His expertise in financial reporting will be a valuable resource to our office, this agency and investors,” Beswick says.
The OCA is also made up of the professional practice group and the international group led by Brian Croteau and Julie Erhardt, respectively.
Murdock most recently served in Deloitte’s national office and was responsible for auditing the financial statements of several companies.
