There’s a new petition created on We the People, a new feature on WhiteHouse.gov, to obtain the Federal Government’s support for the Power Nap. Will you add your name? If this petition gets 100,000 signatures by July 09, 2013, the White House will review it and respond!
We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.

Here’s some more information about this petition:
Establish afternoon naps to improve workforce productivity
Search “naps+productivity” and you’ll find an extensive amount of evidence to support napping as a way to improve workforce productivity. I offer up this petition for the Federal Government to incorporate afternoon naps as part of the regular workday. I propose provisions in the Fair Labor Standards Act in favor of how it should be treated in the general workplace similar to lunch and breaks. Guidance should be provided/reinforced regarding metrics to measure productivity and ensure accountability in general similar to telework policies.
Going to be rather cynical! What with the press giving the government employee the once or twice over the coals most every week you expect this excellent idea to even begin to gain traction especially with the “general” attitude being displayed by a significant percentage of the current congress?
