The U.S. Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has released application programming interfaces (APIs) for four of its data collections, including FCC licensing data, through the License View API.
Respecting the licensing data, the Commission’s instructional page says:
The FCC issues licenses for use of the nation’s airwaves and other purposes. License View API provides snapshots such as the number of licenses across different services, how many licenses different entities have, and how many licenses are up for renewal in the near future.
The release of these APIs is part of the Commission’s open government data efforts, which are part of the Obama Administration’s Open Government Initiative.
For more information, please see the Commission’s blogpost about the release, or the FCC Developer API site.
