Federal Employee Pay Raise in 2013 – Federal Pay vs. Private Sector Pay – Which is higher?

Most every day I hear “I am looking for Federal job so I can have more stability,” from people who are willing to take a pay cut, perhaps thinking the Federal benefits will balance it out.

It would be interesting to see a more updated graph to perhaps 2010 or 2011, but it only shows up to 2008. Do you think the graph in the article is accurate? Personally, I think it depends as well. There are contractors who make more than their counterparts in government. It would be interesting to see statistics that compare apples to apples, i.e., job titles to job titles, responsibilities to responsibilities, and maybe accomplishments to accomplishments. (Who wants to take on that project? <smile>)

The bottom line is “there is a good chance for at least a small pay increase in 2013 for active duty federal employees.”
