Federal offices in the Washington area are operating under an unscheduled leave policy on Wednesday as a snowstorm dumped anywhere between 2 and 8 inches across the region overnight.
The policy means federal workers in the D.C. area who cannot report for work can request unscheduled time off for the entire workday. Workers must notify their supervisor of their decision. Emergency employees must report regardless of the weather.
The weather is almost irrelevant now that I’m teleworking. Why take leave when you can get more done from the safety and comfort of your own home. Plus, I had enough time to sleep in a little and shovel the driveway before I started work (still earlier than usual). I’ll also be here past my normal time.
