Government Social Media Doesn’t Have to be Boring

While I enjoy tackling more serious topics, I decided to take a break this week and write about something a bit more light-hearted: government social media accounts that are breaking the mold. Here’s a list of agency accounts that are taking social media to the next level with cool photos, hilarious memes and the “best-of-humanity”. Each of these accounts showcases unique approaches to making memorable, shareable posts from even the most mundane content, ensuring that audiences follow, engage and reshare.

Here are 15 X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts — with sample posts — that are absolutely worth a follow.
