I woke up early this morning and was delighted that it was Friday. Friday means that it is casual day around our office. After attending the GovLoop NGG10 Summit this week and winning a GovLoop T-Shirt, I thought I’d sport it into the office today to show all the Boomers how AWESOME us Gen X’s and Y’s are in government (ya know generate some conversation to bridge the gap of the generational divide).
Anyhow, I set out ironing my pride and joy T-Shirt and an idea crossed my mind. How cool would it be if next year, at NGG11, GovLoop gave out the “GovLoop Green Jacket of AWESOMENESS” (or FLYNESS…whatever the word of the year is) for excellence in Government? I mean I kinda feel that COOL wearing my GovLoop T. I’ve been to the Masters, but this T is way COOLER and not nearly as stuffy.
OH…and P.S. GovLoop – I smiled when I noticed the GovLoop t’s were manufactured by American Apparel. (They really thought of it all for the summit).
So…on to 2011…and the GovLoop Jacket of Awesomeness?
Yes, you guys are awesome, but puh-leease note that ‘dinosaurs’ (non-open folks) come in all ages. Even X’s and Y’s…and that not all us Boomers are part of the ‘Sitting Dead’. Just sayin’. Thanks for the post.
@ Barry…
I’m well aware that you “dinosaurs” are pretty darn COOL too! Check out what my Boomer boss did to make the workplace COOL….
Background (she was my mentor through Young Acquisition Professionals before she was my boss).
P.S. we’re really not the coolest thing since sliced bread (most of us don’t opperate under that view anyhow)….we’re mostly appreciative of Boomers who offer to mentor us and we realize that we can learn a lot if we just listen.
Or, as Dennis Hopper, in his role as a manically brainwashed photojournalist stated in the movie “Apocalypse Now” (1979) — “One through nine, no maybes, no supposes, no fractions. You can’t travel in space, you can’t go out into space, you know, without, like, you know, uh, with fractions — what are you going to land on — one-quarter, three-eighths? What are you going to do when you go from here to Venus or something? That’s dialectic physics.”
Was that “cool” or what!?
@ Marco
He I was born in ’84, but I think that was cool…I’m laughing.
I have been proudly sporting my Govloop Gov Rockstar tee around the neighborhood while walking the dog. I love the idea of the Green Jacket of Awesomeness!
Perhaps we should take a poll of GovLoopers? Master of Government: GovLoop Green Jacket of Awesomeness Award….
Wearing mine right now.
Still waiting for Ressler to come through on his GovLoop t-shirt promise… 🙂
@ Harlan – I just like Green…Although yellow may be a consideration…that takes guts to wear a yellow jacket any day of the year. HAHA
