What mode of transportation is self-balancing, all-electric, and one-wheeled? If you guessed the Solowheel you’d be right.
We’re always on the lookout for unique green technology, and recently the Solowheel caught our eye. The invention is a single-wheeled personal transportation device, similar to the Segway, but lighter and more compact. It runs on a 1,000 watt battery and is controlled by leaning forward, backward or side to side. When the Solowheel goes downhill, the batter recuperates some of the power its used. What really caught our eye, aside from the fact that it only has one wheel, is the fact that the entire unit can be picked up with a built-in handle (it weighs 20 lbs according to the company’s website) and taken into a home or cubicle. Another great feature is its reported charging time: its two-hour battery is fully-charged in 45 minutes.
It isn’t available for purchase yet, but you can find out more about the product at the Inventist website.
