With temperatures and deficit-debate tempers reaching record highs in Washington D.C., July also proved to be an interesting month in state and local health care and social services.
In July, we saw great movement with the Department of Health and Human Services’ release of a proposed rulemaking for health benefit exchange implementation. In the same vein, several states submitted applications for the federal Level One Establishment grants for funding to implement an exchange. From these documents, our team gained a better understanding of the technical needs in the various states. For instance, Connecticut will be seeking a Health Insurance Exchange Technical Assistance and a Health Insurance Exchange Consumer Assistance and Support Vendor. In Maryland, a Technology Platform and an Operating Model Study will also support the implementation of the Health Benefit Exchange. In Illinois, we confirmed a request for proposals (RFP) will be released in August for Systems Integrator Consulting Services.
