The engines are running, the partner cities are rolling, the Beta is launching — it is the time for exciting new beginnings. With this spirit in mind, DotGov is proud to announce the release of the official name for our new mobile app: YouTown. The previously mentioned name, “CityLife,” was our code name for the beginning stages of development, when we were hammering out the details and tying up loose ends. Now, as we move to Beta and deploy the app to hundreds of citizens for the first time, we are bringing YouTown out into the open!
You + Your Town = YouTown
That’s what it’s all about, right? The purpose of the platform is to bring the services and information of your community right to the palm of your hand. Just as YouTube is the place to discover and share online videos, YouTown is the place to discover and share the news, culture, and information of your community. The app enables you to interact personally with your town and local government in entirely new ways. Never has it been so simple and fun to stay “in the know” while on the go! No need for the clutter of paper maps, reminders, printouts of city events — YouTown brings relevant community info straight to your mobile device. It’s going to revolutionize the way people relate to their local governments, and it’s coming soon to a community near you!
