House lawmakers unanimously approved Tuesday a resolution that expressed lawmakers’ continued support for the safety and security of
federal workers. The measure also called on the government to continue
seeking ways to improve their protection.
Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) — whose Northern Virginia congressional district is home to thousands of federal workers — said
he introduced the measure to draw attention to attacks against federal
workers while they are engaged in or because of their government
duties.
The resolution came in the wake of the February plane crash at an Internal Revenue Service office in Texas that killed one worker and the March shooting at the Pentagon that injured two police officers. (See Moran’s floor statement in the video above.)
