Tip #4 – Develop a Positive Attitude
Every man is where he is by the law of his being; the thoughts he has built into his character have brought him there – James Allen
According to Canadian psychologist Sydney Jourard, 85 percent of your success in work is determined by your attitude and personality.
In his book, As a Man Thinketh, James Allen says we do not attract what we want, but rather we attract who we are, for we are the sum total of our thoughts.
Do you know the one thing that could keep you from landing your dream job?
Studies show it largely depends on how much people like you and want to help you.
It all boils down to your disposition at work. Are you cheerful and positive? Or are you negative and critical? Which of the two do you want to help and be around?
Me too. The former, just in case you chose the latter. 🙂
People who are cheerful and optimistic are always more liked and respected than those who are complaining.
Your career success depends on how well you get along with others. Managers notice the ones that are team players, and if you kept a record, you would see that those individuals always get promoted.
If you are positive and friendly, more of your coworkers will be willing to give you a hand when you need it. A positive mental attitude affects your outlook on life which in turn affects your behavior. If people are put off by your behavior, you will have a hard time getting promoted.
Action step: Resolve today to be positive. Look for the good in every situation that occurs today.
