I have said before that we might want to think about who our digital audiences really are – they are not just a ‘Roman mob’.
This led me to starting thinking that if we started from scratch what would we do.
So this is my plan at the moment:
Do a little research and create our first digital audience pie.
Try to divide the pie up into slices of the groups that we can identify are audience groups. It might be a bit rough and ready to start with.
Ask colleagues if the groups are what they expected – they probably are not.
Map the two views against each other – existing, hoped for audiences.
Work out the implications – do we need to change our focus and target different audiences, or put more effort into attracting or even ‘detering’ others?
It could be interesting and I will post some progress updates.
