This event is interesting to me personally because – I hate data.
I mean – I actually love using data to make decisions, prove theories, and discover patterns. What I don’t like is inputting data into tables, creating graphs, and making it usable, and that is why I am excited about having Socrata come to present with the EPA.
Socrata is a social data platform which allows audiences to visualize and search datasets. As a user – you can use socrata.com tools to onboard or upload your data from your current sources like excel. It is also easy to embed datasets, track civic engagement, accept and moderate comments about the data, and access your dataset via an API.
Register to hear how the EPA used the data gathered from the BP Spill in the Gulf of Mexico to develop easy to read maps (link) which they embedded on their website using Socrata.
So, if you’re like me (data averse and counting the days to a prescheduled vacation in the gulf) or just simply interested in an innovative way to embed and visualize data, this might be the tool for you.
