I have been applying for federal government jobs for about 12 years on and off, and within that 12 years I have not been offered not one job. I have worked very hard to obtain my Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and now I’m finishing up my last semester in Health Systems Management for my Master’s degree. I have even went so far as to pay someone to polish up my resume for employment with the federal government. Still reject after reject, what am I doing wrong? I know I am more than qualified to work with the federal government. It’s been a life long dream of mine. However, I am happy to say that I have been nominated for the Presidential Management Fellowship program with the government. I intend to keep pressing forward and hoping that one day soon I will be working for the Federal Government in some capacity. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Its hard to beleive 12 years. What series were you appling for? Just asking because I have known people who have apply one to three times and got in through that magical door. I been working for DOD going on 15 years now. I apply twice and got in. What I did was choose a series and grade that was under staff. Back then I found this info on the OPM site. Not sure where that data is now. Also I have a BS in Information System too. Don’t work in the IT field either. I am working in the series 0343, Management and Program Analyst. You have to choose the right series and grade to start off with.
but how do you know how to chose the right series and grade?
