Mission Essential Personnel Names Wesley Taylor As Theater Director – Afghanistan

Mission Essential Personnel, LCC (MEP) today announced it has hired Wesley B. Taylor Jr. as its new theater director in Afghanistan, where he will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the company’s 6,500 professionals attached to supporting coalition efforts in that country. Wesley served 30 years in the military, finishing as a brigadier general in the US Army, and 14 years in the private sector prior to starting with MEP.

“It’s an honor to have Wes on our team,” said MEP CEO Chris Taylor (no relation). “As with all efforts attached to the rebuilding of Afghanistan, MEP’s operations there present daunting challenges. In order to fulfill our commitment to the US government and the warfighter, we depend on the capabilities of highly qualified personnel like Wes.”

Highlights of Taylor’s military career include his appointment as a senior counter terrorism policy official for the Department of Defense. Other highlights include his management over the redeployment and refit of 500,000 soldiers after Desert Storm and combat experience in Vietnam and Grenada. He earned his bachelor’s from the US Military Academy and his master’s from the University of California (Santa Barbara). He has also attended the US Army Command and General Staff College, the US Army War College, and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
