Five NIST employees will be featured on the Modern Marvels: Measure It episode that will air THIS week, Tuesday December 23rd at 8 pm ET. Elizabeth Gentry and Robert Watters (Technology Services), Zeina Jabbour (Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory), Dean Ripple and Greg Strouse (Chemical Science and Technology Laboratory) talk about their work.
Also, on Tuesday at 8 (set your Tivos!) PBS will rebroadcast the two-hour NOVA special Absolute Zero. The program traces the science of cold from the earliest attempts to develop air conditioning to the creation of the Bose-Einstein Condensate, a feat for which NIST/JILA scientist Eric Cornell and his colleagues won a Nobel Prize in 2001.
