Thanks again to everyone who attended my session at NextGen, “Presentation design for the user experience”. As promised, I’ve to a list of resources for you to help sharpen your skills as a student of the discipline:
The Presentation itself can be found here.
Resources Visual and Narrative:
- “The Lost Art of the Great Speech“: Principles of Oration
- Presentation Zen (Blog about presentation design)
- Kuler– Adobe’s crowdsourced palate community
- Prezi– Nolinear animated PowerPoint alternative (dangerous in the wrong hands)
- Flickr Creative Commons – Licensed, free, high resolution images
- Ted Talks: require no explanation
- What Font – Chrome Extension
Data Visualizations:
- Economist Graphic Detail
- Guardian Datablog
- NYTimes visualizations
- Information is Beautiful
BONUS: Ken Burns on storytelling h/t: the Atlantic.
I wish I could’ve sat in on your session but thanks for all the resources. I didn’t know Google had set up a way of discovering and and all fonts on different websites. For a graphic designer who wants to know what font a company is using, this is amazing!
