A few years ago a colleague I had met through social media asked me to be part of an initial group of recruiters who were putting on an event here in DC. The event was to be geared for recruiters by recruiters talking about the challenges here in the Washington DC area. Many of us were fortunate to go to the national recruiting and social recruiting conferences unlike our recruiting brethren in and around the Beltway.
This spring the 5th recruitDC will be at George Washington University’s Marvin Center. Tickets have been available for less than 24 hours and the event is almost sold out! Why? Because it is fun, educational. very geared toward DC area recruiting and affordable! I wanted to make sure all Govies who are interested in recruiting know about this event!
The next recruitDC on May 23rd at the George Washington University Marvin Center. This full day event will bring together our local recruiting superstars plus a few talented national speakers to inspire, challenge and educate you on recruiting topics and trends.
We will hear from John Vlastelica of Recruiting Toolbox, Inc. on how effective recruiters can lead their organizations in his irreverent keynote Choose Your Challenge: Lead or Be Led.
The morning breakout sessions will include: Lars Schmidt, NPR, who will share his insight and mistakes on Leveraging Social Media to Recruit for a Big Brand. Larry Clifton, CACI, will present his very successful Predictive Staffing Modeling to produce results and savings. Bob Corlett, Staffing Advisors reminds us that we need to manage our recruiting careers as well as our talent pipelines with Managing Your Career – Are you Becoming a Recruiting Rock Star, or Are You Spiraling Toward Rock Bottom?
After an invigorating networking lunch, the afternoon breakout sessions will include: Michael Heller, Pillar One Consulting, ponders the question of the ‘Over Qualified’ Candidate: Should we consider? As we look to the end of the school year we hear a panel discussion from Steve Tiufekchiev, RECSOLU, on College Recruiting in 2012. You can learn from your recruiting colleagues who have developed key internal relationships with a panel led by Alan Strauss, Startfinder, on Becoming a Trusted Advisor: The Key to Successful Internal Client Relationships.
Finally, there is a very large, highly trained and skilled talent pool out there, but we are not reaching it. We are talking about veterans, so we are taking on this challenge with a panel discussion Skilled, Trained and Ready to Fight for our Jobs with opening remarks by Colonel David Sutherland from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff office.
The day will not just be about listening but interacting as well. When you aren’t sitting as part of a presentation you will be actively networking with your recruiting colleagues through a series of networking exercises throughout the day to ensure your network grows by at least 10% by the end of the day.
Don’t miss out on this exciting day! If you wait too long,it will be sold out!
You are the recruiting master, Kathleen. Thanks for sharing info about this event!
David, thanks. I am not a recruiter, just a simple marketer and not one as great as you! Enjoy the day!
And, this is an awesome event with lots of good energy, networking and things to learn.
