Once upon a time, in a far away land…wait, this isn’t some fairy tale about princes and princesses, but rather one where the hero (in this case me) gets to explain why great storytelling is the true art and future of all data analysis projects within government organizations, businesses, and non-profits.
As I have said before in other posts, it is not about the relative size of your data, but what you do with it that counts – small data can be just as powerful as big data. Sometimes a big technology solution is not the answer, it is about insights.
Great datatelling needs three key components:
- Quest or Purpose
- Compelling & Meaningful Characters
- Resolution & Call to Action

Love to hear your feedback, thoughts, and any data issues you might need help with.
Thanks, Dennis
PS. Thanks to my data friend Jen Lowe for the use of “datatelling” terminology – check out her website and blog http://www.datatelling.com/about/ too.
