PAY TO PLAY DAY. I’m declaring Monday National Pay to Play Day in light of the March 14th initial compliance date for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s new rules involving investment advisers and political contributions.
LOBBYIST DONATION BAN. Politico looks at where lobbyists are giving here. “The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee are actively raising money from lobbyists put on the sidelines by Obama’s policy of banning their contributions to the DNC and his reelection campaign.”
MCCASKILL FLIGHTS STILL IN THE NEWS. Politico has more. “Senator Claire McCaskill’s spokeswoman this evening confirmed that the Missouri Senator billed taxpayers for a purely political travel on a private plane co-owned by her family, a violation of Congressional ethics rules that deepens questions around her use of the plane.”

DELAHUNT HIRED. “Former US representative William D. Delahunt, capitalizing on his nearly 40 years in Massachusetts politics, announced yesterday that he is taking a new job as a lobbyist for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, which is trying to build a casino in Southeastern Massachusetts.” Boston Globe.

The Times reports. “Tackling a highly charged topic that is likely to affect the 2013 race for mayor, the New York City Campaign Finance Board wrestled on Thursday with the contours of a new law requiring more disclosure of campaign spending by independent groups like unions and corporations.”
