It can be but the participants must strictly adhere to the rules. I went to a Pecha-Kucha on wikis and the PowerPoints quickly turned into the usual text-heavy, long rambling presentations. PowerPoint can be a great presentation aid but it has made a generation of lazy and lousy speakers.
