Government data indicates that sequestration has trimmed budget for intelligence programs from $72 billion to $68 billion during the past fiscal year, Fierce Government reported Wednesday.
Ryan McDermott writes the data from the Defense Department and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence did not explain how the $4 billion in cuts were made.
Intelligence spending hit a peak of $80.1 billion in 2010 and has dropped nearly 16 percent from fiscal years 2012 to 2013, according to the report.
McDermott reports overall intelligence funding increased by 125 percent between 1980 and 1989.
