Hi Folks,
The final report of our Gov 2.0 Taskforce has been released and is available from the Department of Finance and Deregulation right now.
Borrowing Steve Ressler’s language, It is an awesome report and in many ways the report title – Engage: Getting on with Government 2.0 Report of the Government 2.0 Taskforce – sets the tone for the future.
One of the points in the summary on the Departments’ web site is,
“Leadership, and policy and governance changes are needed to shift public sector culture and practice to make government information more accessible and usable, make government more consultative, participatory and transparent, build a culture of online innovation within Government, and to promote collaboration across agencies”.
I’m pretty sure nobody would want to ‘throw the baby out with the bathwater’ to shift public sector culture, but I’d say a list of sacred cows destined for the chopping block needs to be considered.
What sacred cows would you place on your list?
Cheers
