The Defense Department is looking to evaluate existing commercial electronic health record technologies as the agency intends to replace its old EHR systems.
An Oct. 1 solicitation calls on interested contractors to demonstrate their off-the-shelf EHR systems on Oct. 21 in Washington for the department’s Health Management System Modernization program.
DoD aims to replace its Armed Forces health longitudinal technology application, composite health care system, Essentris and its theater medical information program’s EHR component.
The Pentagon wants products that feature EHRS management, patient care plan, decision support, order management, medication, workflow and document management applications.
EHRS products must also bear third-party ratings from market research firms, be listed on the Office of the National Coordinator’s Certified Health IT Product List and have achieved at least the first stage of Meaningful Use, among other requirements.
