The nation’s largest single financial backer of small businesses, the SBA has supported more than $16 billion in lending under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The agency has also taken a lead role in helping small businesses compete for federal government contracts. As a result, small businesses have been awarded almost $4.8 billion in Recovery Act contracts so far.
