On Thursday, I will attend SFOpen 2011, a forum discussion on Open Government with nine of the candidates currently running for the office of Mayor of San Francisco. The event is sponsored by Change.org, GovFresh, WordPress, and various others. From the event site:
SFOpen 2011 brings together the 2011 San Francisco Mayoral candidates for a discussion on open government, civic engagement, technology and innovation.
As expected, the event has sold out quickly. You can try to get on the wait list or catch the live video.
In preparation for the forum, technology/civic engagement questions are being solicited online. Among them, three relate directly to public participation:
- Do you support participatory budgeting processes?
- Do you support new technologies to improve engagement and accessibility for community based planning?
- How will you involve citizens in city decision-making processes?
Would be nice to get at least a couple of these in front of the candidates. Add your votes if this is your cup of tea.
