Teach Your GPS Not To Talk To Strangers…..

Ahhh GPS. Life and navigation is so much easier now. Many a time this little Garmin monster has talked me through new subdivisions, around highway construction and straight to that dreaded conference. But here’s a story of the GPS that talked too much. It’s a story that was shared with me; and worth repeating here.

——————————-

A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that her car was broken into while they were at a football game. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, money and their GPS which was mounted on the dashboard.

When she got home, their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen. How did this happen?

Here check this out….

——————————-

  • Thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. Then,
  • Used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house.
  • No idea why their alarm wasn’t on. But that’s another story…….

The Takeaway:

If you have a GPS – don’t put your home address in it.. Put a nearby address (like a store or gas station) so you can still find your way home if you need to, but no one else would know where you live if your GPS is stolen.

Make it awesome.

That’s something I would have never ever considered. Good call, James, and sorry to hear about your friends house!
