The TechAmerica Foundation forecasts federal agencies will spend $70 billion per year on known and unclassified information technology by fiscal year 2019, FierceGovernment IT reported Tuesday.
David Perera writes the findings are measured in constant dollars, with civilian IT spending projected to reach $38.3 billion for fiscal 2014 and $39 billion in constant dollars for fiscal 2019.
Defense Department IT spending is predicted to be $31.7 billion for fiscal 2014 and $33.2 billion in constant dollars for fiscal 2019, Perera reports.
Agencies spent $86 billion combined on IT in fiscal 2009 and that figure is based on inflation adjustments, according to the report.
TechAmerica did not include classified IT spending, hidden IT spending agencies did not report to the Office of Management and Budget or IT inside military or space systems.
