The Senate Armed Services Committee has approved its version of the National Defense Authorization Act which would aim to recruit young people to work in cybersecurity, develop a Department of Defense cyber testing and evaluation range, consolidate networks, improve the security specifications of DoD software, and develop next generation cybersecurity tools. Federal Chief Technology Officer Todd Park requested a panel of White House experts to help disseminate government data to private sector developers and entrepreneurs. More here.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested the mayor of West New York, New Jersey, and his son for hacking into an opposition website. More here.
White House veteran Andy Ozment will return from his post as director for compliance and technology in the chief information security officer’s office of the Department of Homeland Security to serve as a senior director reporting to the cybersecurity coordinator. More here.
