We attended the National League of Cities conference last week and got a lot of questions about streaming council meetings online to increase transparency. There were some concerns raised about pricing and complexity, we wanted to address these in a blog post to give people some key things to consider when deciding what type of solution to buy.

Also, I wanted to give a shout out to all the Granicus clients that were finalists in the NLC’s 2010 Awards for Municipal Excellence, including, Aurora, CO Cerritos, CA, Dallas, TX, Los Angeles, CA, Newport News, VA, St. Petersburg, FL, Irvine, CA, Mesa, AZ, Riverside, CA, Sunnyvale, CA, Thousand Oaks, Prescott Valley, AZ. These agencies have really been progressive with technology to strengthen their community. Nice work!
I happened to be there as well…don’t know how I missed you guys! Here are a few posts:

Thanks, Andrew! I don’t know how we missed eachother either. 🙂 I enjoyed your note series from NLC! Thanks for sending the link.
Current, accurate, and complete information cuts down on wasted time and resources. Its most beneficial for each party to know what the starting point is, expectations, milestones, and end results. In addtion to the great many comments you made on the website, I would like to add cutting back on travel costs is a benefit as well. Although, I think an initial visit is necessary on complext procurements so all parties involved can see eye to eye from the beginning.
