Simon Burall had a nice post last week, in which he asks what are “the two things you need to know about public engagement”. He quotes from a earlier article in The Guardian that gives a few examples (e.g. the two things to know about economics: 1. Incentives matter, 2. There’s no such thing as a free lunch).
A few good suggestions have already come in through the comments. Here’s the comment I just left, my take with regard to public participation:
- Those who are affected by a decision should be involved in the decision-making process.
- Process matters.
So there you have it.
