What’s Your Competitive Advantage?

In the corporate world, competitive advantage is defined as an area of excellence that gives a company a distinct edge over its competition. What is your personal competitive advantage in the work world? What do you absolutely excel at that gives you an advantage over your co-workers? What exceptional skill do you possess that is in strong demand?

I regularly look at job boards, just to see what type of areas of excellence companies are hiring for. I take a look at USA Jobs and Simply Hired, just so I can stay on top of the skills I need to learn in order to stay competitive.

If you were asked to state in one sentence or less what you do better than anyone else, could you? If not, now is the time to start. Decide on one area in your professional life that you want to be known for. Do everything you can to make yourself stand out from the crowd. If you do this, you will be paid more and promoted faster than those around you.
