Last February, thanks to Craig Newmark (of craigslist.com), I discovered kiva.org, a site that lets you lend very small amounts to startup businesses in developing countries.
So I started a group here at GovLoop and posted an explanation.
I’m ecstatic to report that the GovLoop group now has 70 members, 26 of whom have made loans totaling nearly $12,000!
I’ve never been part of something so spontaneous, and the joy of it is how it builds from such small contributions.
So join us!
Congratulations Jeffrey! One of my definitions of a true community (online or offline) is that it gives back to others. When I saw the Kiva group after joining GovLoop for the first time, I knew that this was a true community.
