On today’s program for Wednesday April 25th, 2012:
- Riding the procurement wave— and dealing with tight economic times with DHS top procurement official — Nick Nayak.
- Frank DiGiammarino answers your career questions.
Are you ready? It’s just 195 days until election day. Mitt Romney essentially closed out the Republican nomination process last night and we begin the long march to November. CNN notes that the first ads highlighting GSA are out now.
The two scandals dominating government news:
- Three more Secret Service agents are gone as a result of that Colombian pre-Presidential tour party. The Washington Post reports this morning that some Secret Service employees accused of misconduct in the Colombian prostitution scandal are privately contending that their conduct didn’t warrant dismissal because senior managers tolerated similar behavior during official trips.
- Several developments in the GSA situation. Rep. Darrel Issa tells CNN that criminal referrals are expected soon in the case. And CNN notes that the first political ads are out citing GSA specifically. And the Washington Business Journal notes that Florida Republican Rep. John Mica is calling for the General Services Administration to take one of its top-ranking officials off the payroll in the wake of the GSA’s infamous 2010 Public buildings Service conference. Mica, chair of the powerful Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, issued a press release Tuesday urging the GSA to stop paying Jeff Neely’s salary. Neely, who played a key role in planning the $823,000 event held near Las Vegas, headed of the GSA’s Region 9 and has been placed on administrative leave.
