Feeding Feds and Saying Thanks

Being a government worker is a thankless job in most instances and that’s just not cool. Here at GovLoop we see the great work govies do day in and day out and we want to do something to say thanks. After all you are the people who make our community so great.

On December 8th we will be saying thanks and celebrating hitting 50,000 members by handing out 500 free food truck lunches to government employees in DC. Here’s the details:

Event Specifics

What: 500 free food truck lunches for public servants. Lunches will come from both Cap Mac and the BBQ Bus. Lunches will include:

  1. Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich with chips and a drink
  2. Three Bean Vegetarian Chili with a drink
  3. Classic Macaroni and Cheese with a drink
  4. Goat Cheese Macaroni and Cheese with a drink

Who: GovLoop.com and any government employee that is hungry.

When: December 8th, 2011 from 11:30am to 1:30pm EST

Where: L’Enfant and Federal Triangle metro stops. Due to the nature of food trucks exact locations will not be known until the day of the event. Upon arriving at the metro stops exact locations will be tweeted out from @govloop @peteritas @CapMacDC @bbqbusdc and @krazykriz. You can also call (202) 709-7472 on the day of the event for exact locations. GovLoop and food truck operators will be available for comment on site no later than 10:30am EST.

Why: GovLoop.com the premier social network for Government employees has reached 50,000 members and we want to give back to the great public servants out there that are working hard everyday to make government better with us.


In addition to the food trucks we’ll be having a party the night of December 8th where govies and GovLoop members are encourage to come and help us celebrate. Click for details.

Lastly we understand that not all GovLoopers are in DC so we’ll be having a scavenger hunt on GovLoop December 8th where members can search the site and win gift cards and prizes. Stay tuned for more information on the scavenger hunt.


PS: Don’t worry accepting the free lunch is totally legal. We’ve checked the rules for federal employees and you are allowed to accept gifts up to $20 from GovLoop. Here’s the official language:
