Over the past 3 years, GovLoop has hosted a Graduate Fellowship Program in which current or recent graduate students and recent graduates have joined us for a semester or more to contribute to our mission to “connect government to improve government.”
More than 30 Fellows have worked on several of our core projects, including our research guides, online and in-person training, digital marketing campaigns, the GovLoop Mentors Program, web and graphic design and much more. Past fellows have gone onto jobs at State Department, OMB, National Geographic, Deloitte, among others. We are now accepting applications for our Spring 2014 Fellows (applications open until March 16). The full announcement details and job descriptions are found below.

Research Fellow
As a Research Fellow, your potential responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with content creation of research reports and GovLoop guides
- Developing daily e-mail newsletters, including the review and selection of content
- Conducting interviews, research, and analysis on latest government key topics
- Copy editing blogs, guides and various GovLoop projects
- Attending government-related events in DC and capturing content through blogs, videos, and photos
- Writing internal briefs on knowledge cycle reports by industry, academia, or other publications
- Assisting in recruiting, identifying and interviewing thought leaders in government
- Identifying best practices, strategies and challenges for government
- Support the GovLoop content team on various projects such as GovLoop’s daily podcast, the DorobekINSIDER
- Assisting with the planning of our annual NextGen Conference
Qualifications:
- Graduate student (preferable MPA/MPP but also could be journalism, graphic design, computer science, etc.) – exceptional undergraduates may be considered. Recent graduates will also be considered.

GovLoop Digital Marketing Fellow
As a Digital Marketing Fellow, your potential responsibilities will include:
- Researching, maintaining, and analyzing Govloop’s web analytics and member data
- Helping with development, logistics, marketing and execution of in-person and online events
- Assist with growing lists of varying size and identifying targeted messages
- Manage and fine tune the new member welcome process
- Assist with creating weekly jobs alerts
- Work closely with team lead on audience development and acquisition
- Data analysis for promotion process effectiveness
- Assist with managing key members and accounts through CRM tool
- Developing daily e-mail newsletters, including the review and selection of content
- Maintaining records and assisting with coordination of GovLoop CPE requirements
- Assisting with the development, delivery and follow-up for GovLoop training and events, such as Virtual Conferences, the Next Generation of Government Summit, Next Gen Road Shows and other in-person and online events
Qualifications:
- Student or Recent Graduate (preferable communications or business degrees but also could be journalism, public policy, graphic design, computer science, etc.)
- Strong or exceptional writing and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of HTML code
- Previous experience with an marketing automation platform
- Active social media user
- Experience and/or interest in the public sector
- Dynamic go-getter who can handle a range of tasks
- Community organizing a plus (from politics to online) Passion for social media and new technology

GovLoop Design Fellow
As a design fellow, your potential responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the layout and design of GovLoop content as guides, reports, and other online resources as needed
- Additional focus placed on assisting our event and marketing departments in designing collateral for in-person and online events, including posters, icons, web banners, etc.
- Image research, illustration, and designing marketing materials and collateral for print and the web (help us design items like new t-shirts, business cards, flyers, and more)
- Designing and developing new landing pages as necessary.
- Attending government-related events in DC and capture content through blogs, videos, and photos
- Researching, recommending, and developing new online features, applications, and properties to expand GovLoop’s scope of resources
Qualifications:
- Student or recently graduated (preferable graphic/web design, computer science, marketing, but will also consider other degrees with relevant experience)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) is required. Experience with FinalCutProX and or AffectEffects and other graphics editing software a plus, but not required.
- Experience with working in HTML, CSS and/or Javascript also a plus, as well as experience with designing for WordPress or other CMS.
- Ability to manage projects effectively and efficiently as well as excellent oral and written communication. Professionalism in collaborating with others both inside and outside of the office.

GovLoop Brand Ambassador Fellow
As our GovLoop Brand Ambassador Fellow, your potential responsibilities will include:
- Support the GovLoop content team on various projects such as GovLoop’s daily podcast, the DorobekINSIDER
- Write compelling daily content for the GovLoop audience including the DorobekINSIDER, webinars and event recaps
- Conduct daily research on biggest government news stories and issues facing the public sector.
- Research and identify thought leaders in government for GovLoop’s podcasts, events and trainings
- Use Google Analytics to analyze GovLoop content and support contract-based projects
- Assist in the administration of the GovLoop VIP program
- Leverage social media channels to promote GovLoop content
- Report on GovLoop online and in-person events
- Assist with the planning and logistics of GovLoop in-person and online events
- Support GovLoop during the Next Generation of Government Training Summit
Qualifications
- Graduate student (MPA/MPP or journalism preferred)
- Recent graduates will also be considered.

Special Projects & eLearning Fellow
The Special Projects and eLearning Fellow is responsible for supporting all GovLoop signature initiatives around government training and career development activities. In particular, this position will assist with the production and execution of GovLoop’s virtual learning programs (webinars, virtual career fairs, virtual conferences, and traditional course conversion for online delivery), the GovLoop mentors program, as well as guides, blogs and other resources that address web-based career development.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO:
- Assist with planning, developing, managing and evaluating in-person, online and hybrid training programs
- Support learning technology initiatives including Webinars, podcast, online courses, self paced e-learning, and streaming video.
- Assist in the creation of regular program content and messaging (course descriptions, learning objectives, marketing emails, etc.)
- Assist with the identification and scheduling of Subject Matter Experts for training activities
- Engage in interviews with Subject Matter Experts for blog posts and learning content
- Research GovLoop and other websites for relevant learning program content
- Develop slide decks and other digital training materials, as needed
- Assist with the preparation of business proposals and contract reporting activities, as needed
- Provide technical support and assistance during web-based training programs (i.e. webinars, virtual career fairs, virtual conferences, etc.)
- Support signature programs, such as the GovLoop Mentors Program
- Assist in maintaining and expanding GovLoop’s accreditation with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy to offer CPE credits
- Research other potential academic credentials that GovLoop may attain
- Research and draft career-related content, including guides, white papers, and blog posts
YOU HAVE:
- Recent graduates with experience in instructional technology, digital design, elearning, instructional design, or related field.
- Graduate students in instructional design, elearning, library science (or recent masters graduate) that are looking to build right-out-of-school experience / portfolio.
- Experience or training in developing and supporting innovative, web-based learning programs
- Experience or training in developing learning design documents, storyboards, and e-learning prototypes.
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Domain experience in public sector preferred, but not required
- Ability to learn quickly and support platforms like WebEx, Adobe Connect, Google Hangout, Blackboard, Sharepoint, etc.)
- Basic experience with multimedia/Web e-learning development using packages such as the Adobe eLearning Suite (Captivate, Presenter, Flash, DreamWeaver, etc.).
- Basic experience in creating and editing images in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, and/or similar software packages.
