For the last two years, people across government have been getting a crash course on generative AI, whether they have wanted it or not. Agencies recognize that generative AI is one of those rare technologies that truly qualifies as a game-changer, and they are looking to understand the extent of its potential as well as the nature of the risks.
To date, most agencies are still in the exploratory phase, focused on defining and testing early use cases. But as they move toward broader deployment, agencies need to provide a foundation for deploying generative AI to support core operations and mission objectives.
In this video interview, Kevin Tupper, an AI Evangelist for the Public Sector at Microsoft, discusses how to lay that foundation. Topics include:
- How to build AI literacy in the workforce, with a focus on helping understand how to use generative AI effectively
- How to approach governance, providing guardrails that reflect concerns around risks, ethics and limitations
- How to develop a deployment strategy that works for you now but that also can evolve as the models evolve
- Some of the common myths around AI that need to be put to rest
