Leveraging Technology to Improve Organizational Efficiency and Operations

I’m planning on attending the Cisco Government Solutions Forum On March 21st at the Grand Hyatt Hotel (1000 H Street NW) and wanted to share the details with the GovLoop Community. I’ll be doing some live blogging as well, so if you aren’t in DC or can’t attend, keep an eye out for the live blogging.

The Government Solutions Forum is set up to be educational and interactive for participants. At GSF, Cisco and industry leaders will identify best practices how public sector agencies are effectively leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency, enable workforce productivity, and deliver measurable results. As we know, these three elements are something that public sector professionals are challenged with daily, and technology can be used to help combat the related operational and institutional hurdles that public agencies face.

Throughout the event, you can follow on Twitter and get program updates by searching #ciscogsf. To register, just follow this link. The Government Solutions Forum will have four tracks and each track touches on an important area of technology for public sector employees.

Mobile Collaboration: This will be an interesting track, as Cisco explores how agencies can leverage technology to set up the right infrastructure for an increasingly mobile workforce.

Unified Data Center & the Cloud: The cloud is one of the hot topics in government, and there are many ways the cloud can help agencies fulfill mission critical objectives. The cloud does come with some challenges, so be sure to take a look at the sessions to steer you in the right direction, or improve an existing strategy.

Cutting the Cost of Government: This will continue to be a pressing issue for government. This track explores how technology can be used to streamline processes, and in some instances, transform governance, while reducing costs.

Managing Risks in a Dynamic Network Environment: Security and managing risks are always part of the conversation on technology. This track will walk through how to manage risks and keep your network secure.

The Keynote speaker is Jared Cohen, Former Advisor to the Secretary of State, author and current Director at Google Idea. I’m looking forward to hearing Jared speak; he has a really interesting background and experiences he can pull from.

The closing session is titled, How to Connect, Innovate & Save in 2012, and will be presented by Mike Younkers, Director, US Federal Systems Engineering, Cisco and Dave West, Director, Field Operations, Center of Excellence, Cisco.
