Making Acquisitions Count with Chris Dorobek by GovLoop Insights
Happy Tuesday April 3rd, 2012.
We have a special show lined up for you today since It’s FOSE week. FOSE is the big government IT conference and trade show going on now here in Washington.
Through the magic of radio Chris Dorobek is actually there right now listening to the federal CIO Steven VanRoekel kick off the event.
You can still register — FOSE.com. And if you aren’t able to make it, we’ll have highlights for you right here… and he’ll be tweeting… @CDorobek. You can follow along if you’re not able to be there.
But I couldn’t leave you hanging. So we’ve put together a little treat for you.
Last week Chris Dorobek moderated a panel at the Acquisition Excellence 2012 conference sponsored by the Industry Advisory Council, the American Council on Technology and the General Services Administration’s Office of Governmentwide Policy.
We can’t really escape the government’s new mantra — do more with less. And the acquisition community is playing a big role in the do more with less motto.
And Chris was fortunate to have an All-Star panel on hand. Dr. Cedric Sims is the Executive Director at the Office of Program Accountability and Risk Management at the Department of Homeland Security.
Dr. Sims told Chris how acquisition works at DHS.

The Panel included:

- Jan Frye is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Acquisition and Logistics at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Jim Little is the Director of Program Performance, TASC.
- Dr. Cedric Sims is the Executive Director at the Office of Program Accountability and Risk Management, Department of Homeland. They were all part of my all-star panel at the Acquisition Excellence 2012 conference.
And don’t miss GovLoop founder Steve Ressler’s panel from the same conference that focused on creating the future generation of acquisition leaders.
