Federal IT departments have long been the gatekeepers of technology. They’ve decided which applications employees could download and what devices could connect to the network. But for many agencies, that changed in recent years.
For federal government, digital transformation is driving creation of new business models and designs, resulting in better outcomes. And intent-based networks are accelerating digital transformation for government and going beyond improving people, processes and technologies.
Outdated IT networks can’t fully reap the benefits of new technologies like mobility, cloud, social networking and big data analytics. But without those modern tools, the joint forces are limited in their ability to serve the men and women who protect our country and its citizens.
The military, like any other organization, is always evolving. This means, however, that the network that was developed for previous warfare environments and that worked decades ago doesn’t meet current needs, let alone future warfighting needs
Simply put, existing network infrastructure was never designed to meet the missions, challenges or cyber threats of today.
